As we wave goodbye to a year of austerity and uncertainty, we would hope that things can only get better….. however it looks like in 2012 we will remain in a climate of increasing volatility coupled with low returns, there has never been a more important time to make sure that you have a handle on your money and to review your finances.
You should always start by having a financial plan. This is crucial because if you don’t know where you are going, how will you know if you’ve got there? As Benjamin Franklin said ‘By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.’
Once you’ve got your plan, it’s just as important to monitor it on a regular basis, in order to ensure that it’s still on track. If you want to get your money working for you, don’t bury your head in the sand … make sure that you set aside some time to review your finances on a regular basis. Whether its once a week, once a month or even only once a year, just make sure you do it.
